GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present one of the most honest and remarkably preserved first-generation Mustangs we have had the privilege of offering. This 1967 Ford Mustang GT Convertible is a genuine factory S-code big block car equipped with the highly desirable Toploader 4-speed manual transmission—a combination produced in extremely limited numbers and seldom found today in such authentic, unrestored condition. Finished in its factory-special-order Dark Moss Green over a Parchment Deluxe Interior, this Mustang remains an outstanding example of preservation, wearing approximately 90 percent of its original paint. Aside from an older repaint to the driver's quarter panel and the front edge of the hood, the car has escaped the restoration process that so many of its counterparts have undergone, allowing it to retain the character, fit, and authenticity collectors search for today.
Originally purchased new by a single owner, this Mustang remained in long-term ownership for decades before joining one of the finest private collections we've encountered. Even more remarkable, it still retains the original Ford special-order identification tag installed when the car was built, documenting its unique factory order. Throughout the exterior, the paint proudly displays nearly sixty years of honest use with the small chips, checking, and imperfections that only genuine original finishes can develop. Rather than hiding its history beneath fresh paint, this Mustang wears its story with pride, making it a refreshing alternative to over-restored examples.
Power comes from the original factory S-code 390 cubic inch FE V8 backed by its original Toploader 4-speed manual transmission. Power is delivered through the factory heavy-duty Ford 9-inch rear axle equipped with a Traction-Lok limited-slip differential and desirable 3.25:1 gearing. According to the previous owner, the drivetrain has never been removed from the vehicle and the odometer reflects its original mileage. The result is a driving experience that feels authentic in every sense—smooth, powerful, and exactly what enthusiasts expect from Ford's legendary big block Mustang.
Rather than restoring the car cosmetically, the previous owner focused on preserving its originality while ensuring it performs as well as it presents. The braking system has been completely serviced with new brake components and brake lines while carefully retaining all of the original parts removed during the process, which will accompany the sale. The entire fuel system has been refreshed, the original carburetor professionally rebuilt, and the factory-original radiator was removed, inspected, flushed, and reinstalled. The car starts easily, runs exceptionally well, cruises comfortably at highway speeds, and maintains proper operating temperature—an impressive feat for any FE-powered Mustang.
Inside, the Parchment Deluxe Interior remains one of the car's defining features. Luxury bucket seats, the factory center console, tachometer dash, woodgrain steering wheel, brushed aluminum trim, and the factory AM radio all help create an interior that feels wonderfully preserved rather than restored. Even the factory AM radio remains operational. The power-operated convertible top functions properly, making this Mustang equally enjoyable whether displayed at a concours event or driven on a sunny afternoon.
Factory options include power steering, power front disc brakes, power convertible top, center console, Deluxe Interior, tachometer instrumentation, factory-style steel wheels with GT wheel covers, Traction-Lok differential, and the coveted factory 4-speed manual transmission. Combined with its original drivetrain, one-owner history, special-order documentation, and largely original cosmetic presentation, this Mustang represents a level of authenticity that has become increasingly difficult to dupli |
